Outlining schedule and project management plan for creating an Introduction to Art eLearning course

Project Title and Overview

Creation of a new course (titled Introduction to Art) in the Canvas LMS to be implemented by start of next spring semester (January 2018). This is a general education course (delivered and conducted online) that will help learners gain appreciation into the arts by looking at reasons we make art, how we make art, the role art plays in cultural and historical contexts, and how art can be used as a communication tool for social and political issues.

Project Scope

Design and create 4 modules/lessons to be completed over the course of 8 weeks through a combination of readings, videos, self quizzes, studio projects, discussion posts, and written analyses. Activities and assignments will need to be suitable to both VAK and generational learning styles.

Milestones and Tasks:

  • Course design: learning objectives, outline of modules/syllabus, learning resources and assignments for each module, and layout of content and navigation (storyboards)

  • Content ingestion and course assembly: content placement into Canvas based on course design

  • Course review (QA) - alpha testing: accuracy of content (including any links), course flow and navigation, policy settings, and technical issues (e.g., media files, file uploads, scoring).
